Des Arc School District

After calculating our time missed from school last week, we are going to be required to make up one hour of instructional time. We are going to make this up on March 20th.  We are scheduled to dismiss at Pre-K-11:45, DES-12:00 and DHS 12:15.  We will now dismiss an hour later.  Pre-K- 12:45, DES-1:00 and DHS 1:15.  Any days missed from here on out will have to be made up. 

Des Arc Schools will run the same snow routes this afternoon as were used this morning. If your student was picked up at an alternate location, please be at that location at 3:35 p.m. for the afternoon drop off.

While we are attending professional development at the beach, we've decided Des Arc needs another snow day. We're just gonna stay right here and enjoy the sun☀️🏖️ No school tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 29th.

The Tribune has met and declared... "Another snow day it shall be!" Therefore, tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28th, Des Arc Schools will be closed due to the treacherous road conditions. Stay safe out there!

Due to inclement weather, the basketball games scheduled against Barton on Tuesday, 1/27, have been postponed. We are currently working to reschedule these games and will share the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

Due to possible incoming weather, our basketball games at KIPP Delta originally scheduled for Friday (1/23) have been moved to Thursday (1/22).

We will play a Junior Girls, Senior Girls, and Senior Boys game, with tip-off starting at 5:00 PM.

Reminder that Des Arc Schools will be closed tomorrow, January 19th, in observance of MLK day.

🦆🧵Not just winging it… 🦆🧵 With guidance from an embroidery expert(Erica Holloway) our EAST student(Jaxton Bethell) learned how to run the embroidery machine and start stitching on hoodies, hats and more! Thank you Erica and The Lily Pad for all you do for our EAST students!

Over the past year, DAHS school nurse Tammy York, has worked with the PEP Club, EAST, ARCARE, and School Resource Officer Bill Duerson to continue to keep our students safe and healthy in the case of a catastrophic event. Soon, every classroom will be equipped with a standard STOP THE BLEED KIT. These kits include medical supplies to treat a traumatic injury. In the event of a mass casualty, teachers will have access to medical supplies while in lockdown. Formal STOP THE BLEED training will be offered later this year to prepare the staff to treat injuries. We would like to thank ARCARE for purchasing 25 tourniquets, Des Arc PEP Club for purchasing bandages, and EAST for assembling the kits. This is just another example of a great community supporting the safety and security of our children.

🎶 “We didn’t start the fire…” 🎶 (but EAST students are safely using it!) This semester, EAST students are designing and creating custom projects using the xTool laser, vinyl cutter, and embroidery machine. From engraving to cutting and stitching, students are bringing their own ideas to life. Be on the lookout for more student-made designs coming soon!
